Water taxis, Fell’s Point, and a beautiful wedding

Posted on August 31, 2008 at 10:35 pm in

After Melissa spent the morning using every single piece of workout equipment at the MAC facility attached to the hotel, we took a walk to the nearest Water Taxi location. We rode the taxi to the Inner Harbor and then transferred to another one to get over to Fell’s Point. We walked around a little bit, ate lunch (that took way too long thanks to my poor choice of restaurants) and had to head back to the hotel. The water taxi rides were fun.

Melissa’s awesome brother Brian drove up from Virginia with Madeline to babysit the kids in our hotel room while we went to the wedding. The wedding was held at the fantastic American Visionary Art Museum. Everyone had a great time, the ceremony was beautiful, and we met tons of Lori and Matthew’s relatives and friends.

Congratulations, Lori and Matthew!

Here are the photos from the day.

BTW, Brian was completely traumatized by the babysitting experience and almost knocked Melissa over running out of the hotel room when we got back.

Baltimore!!!!

Our friends Lori and Matthew are getting married tomorrow! We arrived in Baltimore today, hung out at the hotel briefly, and then went to the rehearsal dinner/BBQ at the Baltimore Museum of Industry pavilion. Eventually, a large thunderstorm rolled in, the skies turned a strange purple/grey color, and we all had to flee for our lives.

Football, Cake, and Presents

We had a small “football moms” gathering at our house this evening. We ate pizza, had a small cake for Melayna, and then after everyone went home, we opened presents for Melayna’s birthday.

Today the boys had orientation at school to see their new classrooms. Later this evening, they met Brian at Red Robin, and he took their cousins home after a great stay at our house.

Beach day

Today Melissa, Jodi, Missy and Kathy took all the kids to the beach. Must be nice!

Happy Birthday Melayna

Melayna turned two today. Here are a few shots of her low key “let’s eat ice cream cake” family celebration.

Football, football, baseball

Gavin and Logan both had their first scrimmage games of the season. Logan was only able to play for the 1st half of his game because we had to get down to the Phillies game. We celebrated Melayna’s 2nd birthday a few days early by going to the game with Melissa’s brothers Gary and Brian and their families. Brian and Beth’s nephew Gregory has the same birthday as Melayna (but he’s turning 21) so he was their with his mom and dad and little brother too.

The Phillies whumped on the Dodgers.

Long Branch

Melissa wanted to show me how nice the beach in Long Branch was. She took the kids there last year, so we took a day trip to the shore. It was really fun.

Melissa took Logan and Gavin to a pre-season game with her friends Jodi and Tisha and their kids.

Tim, Melayna and Brayden stayed home and relaxed. While we were all safe at home, the girls and the kids at the game dealt with thunderstorms, lightning and game delays. They still had a great time though.

Double Rainbow

After a day of pop-up thunderstorms, nice breezes and general relaxation we were surprised by a double rainbow in the neighborhood. It was a really nice end to a messy day.

It’s a little hard to see the 2nd rainbow in the pics, but it’s there.
