Just a few pics from this evening. Nothing spectacular, just thought I should post a link to them.

Jodi’s Party

We had a fantastic time at the party that Fred threw for Jodi for her 40th birthday tonight. Fred’s bar has recently been renovated, and the place is great. We had tons of fun just hanging out, listening to the DJ and band, and watching all the girls dance like they were still in college.

Happy 40th Birthday Jodi!

Brayden concentrated super hard to make sure he wrote up Adam’s card perfectly this afternoon. He did a great job.

Brayden’s Game

Brayden had a flag football game this evening. It’s finally perfect football weather, just chilly enough to wear a sweatshirt with shorts. :)

Brayden had a touchdown again, which he was very proud of. Once again, amazingly to all the boys, the game ended in a “tie”. (For some reason it has to be a tie, even though the kids keep score themselves…wouldn’t want to hurt any little guy feelings….)

E.A.G.L.E.S. EAGLES!

Just two shots of a very happy Melissa and the kids in front of the TV with the score in the background.

Our friends from the neighborhood, Tony and Paul, are NOT pleased that the Eagles won, since they are life long Pittsburgh fans. These photos are for them, from Melissa… ;)

Teddy

Logan’s football buddy, Teddy came over today to hang out for a few hours. Here are some photos of all the kids enjoying Popsicles out on the deck.

Gavin’s Game

Gavin’s team beat Plymouth-Whitemarsh this afternoon. They had a great time, and Gavin was even in the game a lot!

Logan’s Game

Logan had a game this evening. They didn’t win, but Logan did really well until he “rolled” his ankle. It was a little sore, but he’s fine.

The Gipsy Kings

Melissa and I saw these guys years ago in Atlantic City. Simply an amazing show. There’s nothing quite like a live show packed with acoustic guitars. It was really fun.

Anyway, somebody passed me a link to them doing a cover of The Eagles, “Hotel California” from 1990 on tour. Here’s the youtube…

Anaphylaxis

Posted on September 14, 2008 at 8:42 pm in

I now know what it is like to be stung by a bee. Until today I was able to say “I’ve never seen any Halloweens, Friday the 13th’s, Titanic, or Jaws movies…I’ve also never been stung by a bee, hornet or wasp.”

While mowing the lawn, I must have run over a bees nest or something. I was stung, screamed a few really well thought out obscenities and went inside. Melissa and the kids were down the street at Tish and Kenny’s house enjoying a hot day in the pool. I quickly showered, walked down there told them what happened, and then my face started feeling numb around my lips and chin. Kenny pointed to my leg, where he thought I must have been stung, but it was a hive. Within 5 mins, I had hives covering my whole body, arms, legs, head, torso, feet, and even the palms of my hands. Being the giant geek that I am, I looked up Anaphylaxis on wikipedia and became sufficiently frightened. I popped a benadryl capsule, took a few wheezing hits on an inhaler, and drove myself to the ER in Doylestown.

When I arrived and said “Um….something stung me, I think I’m having an allergic reaction.” I was taken into an ER bed within 30 seconds. 5 nurses and 2 docs showed up instantly, asked me questions and hooked me up to an IV after giving me a shot of epinephrine. The IV had steroids, and more antihistamines in it. Two and half hours, and lots of joking around with the staff later, I was sent home, hive free, able to breathe again just fine.

Scary stuff. I’m really glad that I went to Doylestown Hospital, they have a fantastic ER staff.
